Movies & Meals at Left Bank: NYC

Starting July 6, Greenwich Village landmarked restaurant, Left Bank, will be screening movies on Sundays until the end of August to celebrate the New York summer. A line-up of beloved classics including The African Queen, Stand By Me and Raiders of the Lost Ark will be shown.

Chef Laurence Edelman will serve special dishes to compliment each of the films. First up will be Jaws. Inspired by the fictional Amity Island, the menu will feature choices such as lobster rolls, baked stuffed clams and oysters on the halfshell.  And they’re mixing specialty cocktails like the Great White Russian and Blood in the Water to get us started!

No admission fee is required. Space will be on a first come, first served basis. Movies will begin promptly at 8:15PM.  And they’re popping seasoned popcorn as well.

My favorite New York chefs take on the “Sustainable Menu” challenge to fight hunger with Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

Dear Foodies & Friends,

I’m thrilled to announce that on Thursday, May 15th I am producing From Farm to Tray, a sustainable food benefit for Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, New York’s largest emergency feeding program, serving over 1,000 meals every weekday to hungry New Yorkers. 

From Farm to Tray is a celebration of food at the soup kitchen, challenging prestigious New York City chefs to produce a ‘Sustainable Menu.’ The idea for the fundraiser is firmly rooted in the approach to food that shapes the soup kitchen’s menu each week: the use of fresh, locally grown produce, a commitment to nutritional balance and the importance of providing a variety of taste and texture.           

From Farm to Tray chefs represent some of New York’s most distinguished restaurants, including One if by Land, Two if by Sea, Bodega Negra at Dream Downtown, Freemans, Thalassa, Left Bank, Zio Ristorante, ISA, and Shula’s Steak House. Our chefs will create a tasting menu with local ingredients sponsored by Whole Foods.


Like the soup kitchen guests who eat there every weekday, guests at From Farm to Tray will dine in the beautiful sanctuary of the landmark Holy Apostles Church, a space that New York Times journalist Anna Quindlen named “the most majestic dining room in New York City.”

Last year this event attracted over 300 guests and raised more than $150,000 in cash and in-kind donations. Recently, the soup kitchen and this event were featured in the Huff Post and will be featured in the Wall Street Journal later this month.
